Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan- More Than a Map

map  Put a white pin near where you live and a red pin for someone who needs Jesus. On the surface, it’s a map of Omaha. You can find Dodge, and 80 and 680. You can locate where the zoo is and where King of Kings is. It’ll show you where you can find a park or a bike trail. But it’s much more significant than any of that. It’s actually a revelation. Not like the book with crowns and dragons and weird heavenly beings that our minds can’t comprehend. But this map is a revelation. You see, it shows us (reveals to us) where Jesus in on His mission.…

(Art)Work

T
mlhis famed image of Martin Luther (1483–1546) is from the workshop of Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472–1553). Through their personal friendship, Cranach was Luther’s unofficial “portraitist.” While serving in Wittenberg, Cranach produced paintings, woodcuts, and engravings, both sacred and secular. He utilized his God-given gifts both to create art for the sake of beauty and also to further his Protestant faith. A Lutheran understanding of vocation (calling) recognizes that “serving God” is not simply for professional church workers. By God’s design, we are part of the priesthood of all believers: “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may declare the exellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 1:9).

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan Weber- Israel Pilgrimage 2017

israelblog Earlier this year, twenty-three King of Kings folks and I spent ten days in Israel. It wasn’t a mission trip. It was much more of a pilgrimage. During the trip and immediately afterwards, I was asked many times: “When are you go back?” (You can scroll down for the details, but first let me tell you why I’m going back.) As I lead and facilitate a holy journey, walking in the footsteps of Jesus, I’m most excited about how earthly everything is. The mission of God is to restore creation. And in order to accomplish that mission, Jesus entered into creation.…

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan Weber- How to Live a Christian Life

bookstoreYou’re shopping for a book.  Maybe for yourself, maybe a gift for someone else.  But you’re not just looking for a novel or a work of fiction; no, instead, you’re looking for something specifically Christian.  And as you browse the aisles (or webpages) of your favorite Christian book retailer, you quickly see what kind of book dominates the store: “Christian Living.”  There are shelves upon shelves filled with books on what it means to live the Christian life.  Most of those books focus on me.  They focus on you.  They may start with Christ, but they’re going to spend most of them time on what we do. …

Pastor Dan & the Nebraska District Jr. High Youth Gathering

KNOW God calls people to do things and that calling for Pastor Dan has been to speak. In July he got the opportunity to speak at the National Youth Gathering in San Antonio, Texas (you can check out his blog about the event here) for thousands of people. While there, he was working with a lady who is in charge of the Nebraska Junior High Youth Gathering, and was looking for someone to speak and so she said, “Dan, you can do it!” So now he will be speaking again, but on a much smaller scale, at the Nebraska District Jr.…

A little over two years ago I received a phone call about the possibility of working with the 2013 National Youth Gathering. I had a nice conference call with a team working on the Mass Events (the 90 minute gatherings the cap off each day at the NYG). I was sincere and direct. And after we hung up, I told Charlotte, “I don’t think I’m the guy.…

Guest Blogger Pastor Dan Weber: Coeur d’Alene to Omaha

Today’s guest blog comes from our newest staff member, Pastor Dan Weber! Thanks for sharing! idaho I had never heard of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho until God called me there to serve as a pastor, right out of seminary. I still remember how the Director of Placement stumbled over the pronunciation of the name of the city during the service (it’s pronounced “core-duh-lane”). Throughout the next day, a handful of friends came up to me and they each said something to the effect of, “Yikes, man! I heard about Idaho. Are you going to be okay?” Those friends of mine hadn’t seen any pictures of Coeur d’Alene yet.…
