Guest Blog-Brenda Neyens

Unlocked Logo After a few months of preparing and planning, Nate Seadore and I are thrilled to co-lead and have Unlocked (faith-based group counseling) up and going! You see, Nate and I go way back, over a decade ago he was one of my interns!  Even then, he and I had a similar approach to counseling as a ministry. We view ourselves as people in need of more and more grace. A grace that can then overflow to others. Pair that with our belief that every person has something to offer others, the natural result is that we enjoy spending a big chunk of our time in a group setting.…

Guest Bloggers Madeline and Emily Reddel: Confirmation Memories

c3 Today’s blog comes from recent Confirmation students Madeline and Emily Reddel. Thanks so much for sharing a little bit about your experience going through Confirmation at King of Kings! Madeline Reddel: “Do not merely listen to the Word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22 “As I entered Confirmation as a 7th grader, I struggled with the fact that I would have to go to church twice a week. I did not fully understand the purpose of Confirmation, which is an important time in your life that you make a promise about your faith before God and a crowd of people.…

Guest Blogger Shelby Nook: Confirmation Retreat

image[1] This weeks blog comes from Shelby Nook who recently helped with our Confirmation Retreat! Here is her story! Last weekend I spent my Friday night with some 7th graders. Most normal high schoolers rather go to a football game or hangout with their friends. Honestly, I’m not normal. I much rather spend my time with followers of Christ than to spend my time with people that will bring me down in my faith. So I got to spend my Friday night with some truly amazing young people. Before everything stated the 7th graders sat around talking as we waited for everyone to arrive.…

1008774_10151591367949915_578771921_o Today’s guest blog is hot off the press from Pastor Dan about his recent experience speaking at the National Youth Gathering! Sounds and looks like a blast! Check out photos from the event here and read more here:
A little over two years ago I received a phone call about the possibility of working with the 2013 National Youth Gathering. I had a nice conference call with a team working on the Mass Events (the 90 minute gatherings the cap off each day at the NYG). I was sincere and direct. And after we hung up, I told Charlotte, “I don’t think I’m the guy.…

Guest Blogger Peter Baye: Then God Called me to King of Kings…

photo Today’s guest blogger is new King of Kings staffer Peter Baye! We are so blessed to have you as our new Director of Kids Kount! Welcome! As I read some of the introductory blogs from other new members and interns here at King of Kings, I am a little intimidated.  We have some very smart new folks in our midst… and then there’s me. To be honest, I’ve never really felt like the sharpest tool in the shed.  I’m going to paint a bleak picture here, but don’t feel too bad for me.  I had a wonderful upbringing with sweet family and friends, and God has blessed me in so many ways, but I know that a few of you will be able to connect with my story of adversity.…

Guest Blogger Hannah Mumm: Belize Mission Trip

P1000954 Today’s guest blog comes from High Schooler Hannah Mumm. Thanks for sharing your adventure in Belize with us Hannah! You can see all of her photos here.
Day 1 -Sunday
By the grace of God we arrived in Belize and went through customs, which wasn’t as smooth as it could have been. Grabbing our bags we headed out to meet our praying pelican leaders, Jen and Mark, where they took us to our last “American” meal at Jamboree. Once we finished our delicious lunch we were taken to our first orphanage visit at Dorothy Menzies child care. It was an eye opener to see something like that because so different from the Omaha system of foster care.…

Today’s guest blog comes from teen Shelby Nook who attended a mission trip in St. Louis this week with a team from King of Kings. Thanks so much for sharing Shelby! Well, this last week I’ve been in St. Louis for a GROUP mission trip. I have met so many people that I hope will be lifelong friends, and Ive grown so much in my faith. I feel like I really am a child of God and can confidently say that. Before this trip I was very insecure about myself and didn’t really know where I fit in or where I was supposed to go.…
