First Communion

This class is for 5 and 6 graders and their parents. This class prepares young people to receive Holy Communion for the first time. We will learn what Holy Communion is and why we partake in Holy Communion as a congregation. Kids and parents will talk about faith-based issues each week. Students are required to attend The First Communion Retreat. The retreat is a fun way for everybody to get to know each other while learning the meaning of communion. Students and parent-chaperones will stay at Camp Carol Joy Holling Center outside of Ashland, NE. The retreat includes spiritual components plus some great camp games, a bonfire, and fun group activities. Also included in the First Communion Class is a celebration of the Passover Meal of the Old Testament called a Seder Meal.

Cost is $60 per student which includes class materials, retreat lodging and meals, Seder Meal and a cross necklace-blessing object. One parent is required to attend classes with their child. Questions? Please contact Tari Asche at taria@kingofkingsomaha.org. Partial scholarships are available.
