Guest blogger Jon Bartels: Welcome new intern!

Hello, fr11031162_10206067060266175_1046515610062593305_niends! My name is Jon Bartels. I am very excited to be on the King of Kings staff this summer as I get the unique opportunity to assist in both the Worship and Creative departments! I am from Omaha and have been attending King of Kings since I was a sixth grader. While in junior high and high school, I got involved with Student Edge worship and I began to develop a skill of guitar playing which sent me on a one lane highway into worship leading. I graduated from Papillion La-Vista South High School and this fall will start my senior year at Concordia University Nebraska studying business administration and marketing.…

Guest Blogger: Mr. B- JUMPFest 2015

IMG_0234 Last month, we hosted JUMPFest for 5th & 6th graders. Going into the night we had 17 total kids registered, and there was a bit of concern. We ended up with 92 kids, 51 of them being guests. That’s 51 kids who were invited to have a rocking time and most importantly, hear about Jesus. That’s 51 kids who may better receive an invitation in the future! We had nearly 20 volunteers, one of which was Mike White who was able to have some fun with kids who will be in his area starting this week. IMG_0246
A special thanks to Matt Albright for his leadership and planning of this event.…

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan Weber- Israel Pilgrimage 2017

israelblog Earlier this year, twenty-three King of Kings folks and I spent ten days in Israel. It wasn’t a mission trip. It was much more of a pilgrimage. During the trip and immediately afterwards, I was asked many times: “When are you go back?” (You can scroll down for the details, but first let me tell you why I’m going back.) As I lead and facilitate a holy journey, walking in the footsteps of Jesus, I’m most excited about how earthly everything is. The mission of God is to restore creation. And in order to accomplish that mission, Jesus entered into creation.…

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan Weber – Gardeners, Monkeys, Shakespeare, and the Cross of Christ

istock-18586699-monkey-computer In 1 Peter 3:15, we are commanded to “always be prepared to make a defense (apologia) to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”  Giving a reasoned defense of our hope isn’t the same thing as witnessing to the cross of Christ.  But if your witness to the cross and the empty tomb is blocked by objections to the faith, then apologetics is a necessary step to remove those objections so that we might get back to talking about the cross and empty tomb. Behind the task of apologetics is the recognition that non-Christians have sincere and legitimate questions about our faith and hope. …

Care Ministries is proud to introduce, Linda Degner, as our newest counseling intern! To make an appointment to meet with Linda, please contact Brenda Neyens, LPC at brendan@kingofkingsomaha.org or 402-504-9018. A bit about Linda: P1170179I was born and raised in western New York.  Most people immediately think New York City, but it couldn’t have been farther from that.  Just minutes from Lake Ontario, and less than 2 hours to Niagara Falls I built snow forts in the winter and played on the beach in the summer.  …

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan Weber- How to Live a Christian Life

bookstoreYou’re shopping for a book.  Maybe for yourself, maybe a gift for someone else.  But you’re not just looking for a novel or a work of fiction; no, instead, you’re looking for something specifically Christian.  And as you browse the aisles (or webpages) of your favorite Christian book retailer, you quickly see what kind of book dominates the store: “Christian Living.”  There are shelves upon shelves filled with books on what it means to live the Christian life.  Most of those books focus on me.  They focus on you.  They may start with Christ, but they’re going to spend most of them time on what we do. …

Guest Blogger: Pastor Dan- What are the Odds?

From the middle of March into the first couple days of April, I’m a basketball fan. Filling out a March Madness bracket for the NCAA tournament is one way that I stay connected to my friends all across the country. I ended last year’s tournament with, having successfully predicted the outcome of 24.8% of the games. With that much accuracy, I was ranked 8,283,617th among people using ESPN.com to manage their brackets. I have won my group in the past, but it doesn’t happen often. I really enjoy hearing people talk about how they make their picks for the tournament. Charlotte will pick Charlotte, whenever they make it into the tournament.…

IMG_4250 Do you wanna build a snowman?  Forget a snowman, we built whole snow families! We opened up the doors to Mahoney State Park Recreation Center on Sunday, February 8 and literally had a blast! Thank you to all who joined us and brought a friend to the 2015 Snow Blast event! We were looking forward to having at least 200 members and their friends, but you blew that number away like a strong north wind! Over 400 people attended! Out of the 400, more than 100 of those friends were non King of Kings members invited by a member from your school classrooms, gymnastic and swim lesson groups and so many other places, to know, love and follow Jesus!…

Welcome New Counseling Intern Colby Bradfield

P1160660 King of Kings would like to welcome our newest counseling intern, Colby Bradfield! When asked to share a bit about why he is such an awesome addition to our counseling team, Colby shared the following:   Why I am awesome! There are many reasons I could call myself awesome, and if I do so  I am going to come across as someone with a hyper inflated ego. So instead, I’ll share why I am so varied.  I grew up in a small farming community in South Western Iowa. I played every sport I was able to, even if I didn’t fit the normal view of that kind of athlete.…
