So…What Has God Been Saying to You Lately?
(8th Graders & Parents)
By: Geri Knight
If you ask the parents who attended this event, what was the one thing you remember, I bet they will tell you about the number of weekends they have left with their 8th grader. Did you know that from birth until they graduate, you only have 936 weekends with your child? By the time they reach 8th grade you will have gone through at least 676 of them already! Where does the time go?
The better question is what do you do with the remaining 260 of them? Parents, the most important thing you can do for your 8th grader is teach them how to spend quality time with God. What is quality time? It’s reading His Word and learning what it means to you. It means spending daily time in prayer and meditating on what God’s next step is in your life. What is He trying to say to you today?
The teens learned a new method to study God’s word. They learned 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1. What does that mean? Let me show you:
5 Days a Week – Set aside 9 minutes to read God’s Word.
4 Minutes a Day – Read the Bible. Really read it and enjoy God’s message!
3 Minutes a Day – Consider what God is saying to you specifically.
2 Minutes a Day – Pray to God and thank Him for his message. Pray for others!
1 Time a Week – Tell someone else something about what you learned about God this week.
This is a simple way to devote time to the Lord. It’s an opportunity to let Him speak directly to you and into you. He is passionate about you and your future. Try our 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 method and share some of your testimony with us. We’d love to hear what God is saying to you today! Email your testimony to GeriK@kidskountpublishing.com.
