New Hire: The Communications Team Welcomes Rene Rivas!

It was a random email that I had received from my professor about an internship with King of Kings. As I read, “King of Kings Communications Intern,” I instantly knew this would be the ideal intern position to have! I’ve longed to be part of a ministry where I could contribute my potential skills and leadership within my career and spiritual life. It is more than a pleasure to have such an opportunity where I can express my enthusiasm and motivation for God’s kingdom. I was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska for most of my life. As dull as Omaha may seem to be, I take pride in the city I live in. I am an alumnus from Omaha South High School, Class of 2008. Now, I’m excited to say that I’m a senior at University of Nebraska—Omaha I will be accomplishing two degrees: Criminal Justice and Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising. I know, many people say how will those two degrees come in hand? All I can say is I don’t know, but two is better than one. I do intend to use my PR degree more. I’m a Latino and I come from a second generational family, and will be the first in my family to graduate from college, which my parents, who are from El Salvador in Central America, are overwhelmingly delighted for me to soon accomplish something they couldn’t do when they were my age. I was born being a Christian and accepted Jesus as my life and savior at an early age. Growing up in a Latino church, I was taught to follow what was good and not bad. Though, I never knew what it meant to have a relationship with God until my start of college, it wasn’t until then where I would be involved with a student Christian organization called “Intervaristy Christian Fellowship,” and start to have a serious relationship with God. From there, God has led me into starting something new on campus with students of different ethnic backgrounds and bringing a multi-cultural community and the love of God to every corner.

I am extremely grateful and look forward to seeing what God has in store for me for the community at King of Kings. There’s no doubt that God really does have a purpose and has answered one of my prayers of working with a ministry that has the passion to bring people to know, love, and follow Jesus for His Kingdom!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
