Guest Blogger Shev Sayed: Welcome new intern!

Today we welcome our newest Communications Intern Shev Sayed! Below is a posting he wrote to introduce himself to you!

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri (GO CARDINALS…. but in all honesty we’re not playing so hot this season..) and lived there for ten years before moving to Omaha, NE nearing the beginning of my middle school years and have lived here since. I accepted Christ when I was in middle school but did not embrace a relationship with Jesus until I had begun High School. Since then, I’ve learned that being a follower of Jesus means more than anything that could be said in a prayer, but it is a daily choice to take up your cross and follow where he is leading. Facing multiple decisions for my college career, I felt God calling me to stay in Omaha, where currently I am a freshman at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Since the start of high school, I have had ample opportunities to volunteer and serve in ministry. While attending Christ Community Church in Omaha I found myself as a Worship Intern in Student Ministry for most of my high school years. After graduating, God opened a door for me to be an Interim Youth Director at Westside Church in Omaha where I served until their search was over. After that season, I googled Saturday night services and King of Kings was one of the only churches that had one. After listening to Adam Woldt give a message online, I decided to show up on a Saturday night. After my first week of feeling so welcomed, invited, and engaged I decided to come back the next week and ended up playing with the Worship Team the second week I was here. The third week I was here I gave out The Story books prior to the launch of The Story. The fourth week I interviewed for the Communications Internship, and the fifth week I was hired! I say this because serving is the lifeblood of the Church, whether in the four walls of a building or in your everyday lives. The Church is the hope of the World, and that hope begins with becoming selfless and serving. Paul writes while writing to the Church of Corinth in 1st Corinthians 9:19

19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.

That’s the point. We don’t also just serve one another or the church, but we serve to win people to Christ. I feel that here at King of Kings we do more than accept you as you are, but we want to use you just as you are. That’s why, I jumped in with both feet, and I would encourage you to do the same. I love this church, our heart for lost people, and how we creatively engage those far from Christ with the Gospel.

In my free time I enjoy playing a game of softball, catching a UNO Maverick hockey game, hanging out with friends, playing guitar, watching an episode of Duck Dynasty and drinking a nice tall glass of iced tea.

I am so excited for this opportunity to serve our Church and serve alongside the staff here at King of Kings as we enter into our next season of ministry!
