Guest Blogger Julie Eesley: Abide Easter Egg Hunt
Today’s guest blog comes from Julie Eesley who participated in the Abide Easter Egg Hunt this weekend! Thanks to Dale Eesley for shooting photos again- we might have to hire you as our official event photographer!
This past Saturday, my family and I spent the morning at Skinner Elementary, helping the Abide Network with their annual Easter Egg Hunt for the neighborhood. Abide hosts several of these outreach events a year to bless their neighbors, share the love of Jesus with them and invite them to Bridge Church. Excitement was in the air as games were set up, music pumped, bouncy houses inflated, face paints organized and the food station prepped. And then the families began to arrive, and boy, did they arrive! About 1,500 people showed up!
I helped serve some of the 1,000 hot dog meals, while my three boys helped at various stations and my husband took pictures of the event. It was so much fun to connect with the kids, many of whom had their faces painted, and a few who were decked out in bunny costumes.
Then it was time for the much-anticipated egg hunt! Many of you contributed plastic eggs filled with candy for this event (over 5,000), as did others from local churches, and we were blessed to be able to distribute over 10,000 eggs to the happy gatherers. There was plenty for everyone!
The weather was just heavenly that morning, and as the warm breeze blew around us, my eleven-year-old took in the unfolding scene, turned to me and quietly said, “This is really nice.”
And it was.
